Kerry's Department Store - December

Each month we showcase a Business from the BID area, and this month is Kerry's Department store on Suffolk Road, Lowestoft.

Kerry's have recently launched their new Cafe since completey renovating what was Godfreys Department store into Kerry's.

Here we ask them a few questions about this exciting change:

Lowestoft Vision: How long has the Business been in Lowestoft?
Kerry's: We bought the old building and started to renovate it back in Spring 2016, but we finally opened our last Department, our Café & Tearooms, on 1st December 2016.

LV: Why did you decide to open in Lowestoft?
K: We were looking for a new home for our Mattressman store in Lowestoft, but when we found this store, we could see the massive potential in-front of us, and couldn't resist the challenge.

LV: It certainly was a challenge!  How many staff members are there at Kerry's?
K: We have over 25 hard-working and caring colleagues working for Kerry's at the moment.

LV: Do you have any offers on at the moment?
K: Our KitchenAid range of Artisan Mixers, Kettles, Blenders and more currently has 10% off until Xmas for Mums and Dads, and we've got Santa's Christmas Grotto in-store for the children.

LV: What do you like about having your store in Lowestoft?
K: Lowestoft is bouncing back, and we're proud to be a big part of the town's regeneration.

LV: What has been the strangest question you have been asked?
K: "The oddest thing we've been asked is if we sell the other parts to the reindeer hide that we sell - We weren't quite sure what the customer was after!"

LV: What is your best selling item?
K: Our new Café & Tearooms has been described as a work of art, and most people enjoy a quick visit upstairs whilst they are with us, but otherwise lots of people are leaving with some kind of Gifts or Cookware, and we're also selling lots of British Sofas, and a few British Kitchens too!

Lowestoft Vision would like to say Thank you to Kerry's and we wish you the very best of luck for the new year.

Millets

FEATURED BUSINESS OF THE MONTH

Each month we showcase a Business from the BID area, and this month is Millets on London Road North.

Millets have just had a rebrand, so we popped down to take a look and ask manager Chris Godbold a few questions.....

LV: How long has the Business been in Lowestoft?

C: Well ive been here 21 years and it's been here long before me, certainly over 30 years. It started in 1861 in Southampton and Bristol and then moved to Northampton, the rest, as they say, is History.

LV: Why did you decide to rebrand?

C: We regenirated a new 10 year lease so they invested in store and gave us a new look. We think it works well.

LV: We agree, it certainly does! How many staff member are there here?

C: We have 8

LV: Do you have any offers on at the moment?

C: We have up to half price on our Jackets and Footwear until next Thursday (17th)

LV: What do you like about having your store in Lowestoft?

C: Lowestoft is a good thriving market town, with local trade and regular customers. We are unique as there are no other retailers like us locally and of course, we have been here a long time.

LV: What has been the strangest question you have been asked?

C: Ha Ha! Erm... "Where am i?" or "What store am i in?" spring to mind

LV: What is your best selling item?

C: Jackets at the moment and we've also seen an increase on high-end stuff and technical products.
