Lowestoft Vision and Lowestoft and Waveney Chamber of Commerce are delighted to announce the appointment of Jason Cookson in the new position of Lowestoft Vision BID Co-ordinator. This 12 month contract has been created with funding agreed by Waveney District Council to support businesses in the town who may have suffered as a result of last year's tidal surge floods. The work which Jason will undertake will complement existing Lowestoft Vision projects.

Along with Lowestoft Vision Manager Darren Newman, Jason will provide business support around activities undertaken by Lowestoft Vision that promote, support & develop the town and improve resilience of those businesses impacted during the 2013 tidal surge floods.

In a short space of time Jason has been very proactive in contacting businesses situated on Bevan Street East, Suffolk Road, Commercial Road and Waveney Road that were badly affected by the floods. Jason is also working closely with Waveney District Council to raise funds for businesses via the Flood Relief Business Support Scheme, and has successfully submitted funding applications for 3 businesses totalling £7000 of claims.

Regarding his new role, Jason commented: "It is really exciting to be working at Lowestoft Vision as part of the Lowestoft and Waveney Chamber team. I'm very much looking forward to meeting and speaking with local business owners, to identify issues and to help them raise funds via the flood relief business support scheme. This will help businesses become more sustainable and inject much needed money back into the local economy."

Wendy Wright who trades as 'THISTLES' for framing on Bevan Street East has met Jason to discuss flood funding and commented: "It was a pleasant surprise that Lowestoft Vision made the effort in contacting me. I am hoping the £2,500 funding will help me market and advertise my business in the run up to Christmas and New Year which is an important trading period. Jason was approachable, understanding and very helpful, he did all the paperwork and I would recommend others to get in touch with him."

In addition to those funding applications submitted, Jason has met with others and has applications in the pipeline to submit in the next few weeks. Jason will work alongside Darren in organising Lowestoft Vision's upcoming Halloween events in the town during the October school half term; they will both continue to work on future events and projects which develop business in the town.

Jason is eager for business owners to contact him regarding the prospect of raising flood funding with a view to submitting requests for support. Jason can be contacted on 01502 502205 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
