Free parking scheme extended

Lowestoft Vision and Waveney District Council, with support from Waveney Norse, have extended the "Free Parking after 2pm on a Thursday" scheme which has been running since the 8th August. The scheme provides free parking in north Lowestoft car parks free of charge 2pm each Thursday.

'Free after 2pm' has been developed and jointly funded by Lowestoft Vision, Waveney District Council and Waveney Norse who manage the car parks. Free parking on Thursdays after 2pm was scheduled to finish at the end of September. But after reviewing feedback from local businesses the scheme has now been extended until the beginning of December 2014

Darren Newman Lowestoft Vision BID manager said "Since the scheme started in August we have received positive feedback form local businesses who have reported an increase in trade.

"Thursday have historically been a quieter period and this scheme has helped to attract shoppers into the town".

"We are pleased to continue our partnership with Waveney District Council and grateful that they have allow this scheme to continue.

Waveney District Council deputy Leader Cllr Stephen Ardley said "We are delighted to be extending the free parking offer in Lowestoft and hope more people will take advantage of the scheme. We are committed to supporting businesses in the town and offers like this are specifically designed with this in mind."

The following pay and display car parks are all included within the scheme Battery Gree Road, The Britten Centre, Whapload Road, Dukes Head Street, Alexandra Road and Belvedere Road.
