More Appealing

With award winning beaches, heritage, culture and a wide range of attractions on our door step Lowestoft is a great place to live, shop, stay, eat and play. Lowestoft Vision will celebrate Lowestoft and raise the profile of the town through a wide range of activity.

Delivering a programme of events

Lowestoft Vision will deliver a minimum of four main events per year along with supporting traditional events such as the annual Pancake day race and Scores trail. 2014 welcomed the return of the Petticoat Lane Market which took place in May at the Triangle Market place. The event was run in partnership with Lowestoft Lions and proved to be a great success in increasing footfall to the town but also encouraging vistitors to move around the town from the shopping centre to Triangle market place. As a result we where able to supoport this event again in 2015 and 2016 which was again very popular with members of the public and helped to increase footfall to the town.

In July 2014 and in partnership with Lowestoft Living archive, Lowestoft Vision helped turn back the time to 1914 with a series of events, costume charactures and perfromances in the town centre. This fun and educational event also included a presentation of a plaque at Lowestoft Station to those who served in the Royal Naval Patrol service in the Great War.

In August 2014 Lowestoft welcomed 14 giant turtles which were located throughout the town, over 4 weeks indivuals, couples and families took part in the trail to discover the location of each turtle. This event attracted visitors from all over the country as well as day trippers from Norfolk and Suffolk. 

The trail also proved to be a great success in introducing shoppers to the wide range of shops and services on offer in the town.

In July 2015 and 2016 we again, ran the Turtle trail, this time with an app for customers to download and use on the trail. The app was used to send special offers to customers mobile phones once they had found a turtle.

As a result of the trail footfall to the town centre, the 2015 trail launch event was up by 15% on the previous year and an additional 2% for 2016.

Lowestoft was pleased to be part of the first ever Lowestoft Festival in 2015, the event was put together thanks to a partnership on Vision, Lowestoft Rising, Lowestoft Lions and Lowestoft Rotary Clubs. Taking place on the 18th & 19th July the festival included a wide range of events along the seafront and a Street Velodrome in Lowestoft Town Centre.

Over the festival weekend footfall to Lowestoft was up 16% year to date on the Saturday and a massive 59% on the Sunday.

Lowestoft turned spooky for Halloween in 2014 with a wide range of events including Epico the Dragon, a trick or treat trail and having a giant Marshmellow man in the town centre. Since then, Lowestoft Vision has held Spooky Saturday events each year, with 2016 being the biggest, and most successful event of all.

Lowestoft Vision provided a wide range of Christmtas events in 2013, 2014, 2015 and current plans for this year are now finalising, bringing yet another fantastic programme of Events for all to remember.

Marketing and Promotion

In May 2015 Lowestoft Vision launch "Discover Lowestoft" a new brand for the town which included a new town logo, destination website and days out leaflet. 

Discover Lowestoft has been designed to highlight Lowestoft as a place to visit, shop, eat and enjoy. The website details logo events, news stories and highlight local businesses. We will also use the brand to generate campaigns such as Discover Lowestoft at Christmas.

To support the website we have created a Lowestoft Leaflet which has been distributed around Norfolk and Suffolk.

 

As a result of Lowestoft Vision projects footfall to the town centre increased by 6% in the first quarter of 2015 (Apr - June), this is against Natitional footfall to town centres continuing to decrease.

 

Lowestoft Vision will continue to develop plans to promote Lowestoft as a place to enjoy and arrange a series of events to increase footfall to the town.
