We want to create a welcoming and secure environment for businesses, visitors and the community in the heart of our town: A place of friendly welcoming smiles and excellent customer service where everyone can enjoy the town's wonderful natural environment.
From January 2015 Lowestoft Vision in Partnership with Suffolk Constabulary will part fund a fulll time dedicated PCSO for the BID area. The PCSO is in addition to the Constabulary's current provision and will work with Lowestoft Vision on a wide range if issues to make the town More secure.
PCSO Mike Soanes will be introducing himself and providing contact details to businesses from January 2015. Mike will be working with officers from Lowestoft Station and Lowestoft Visions management team on objectives that will have the greatest impact to the BID area which will include reducing anti-social behaviour and theft. As a PCSO Mike has a number of powers to be able to deal with any issues directly such as inforcing parking restrictions and powers of arrest, Mike will be visable in the BID area and town centre and to provide reassurance to local businesses & customers.
The PCSO project replaces the Street Ambassador scheme which ran from March 2013 to December 2014.
Lowestoft Security Radio Scheme
In August 2013 Lowestoft Vision took over the town's security radio scheme which enables businesses, retailers and the night time economy to be able to communicate with each other and provide security and safety measures over secured channels. Lowestoft Vision hold regular radio user meetings to discuss changes in legislation as well as developing ideas to develop the service, provide training sessions on the scheme which can be arranged by group or individual business session, as well as managing users and the maintenance of the scheme.
As well as providing a means of communication the radio system links directly to the towns CCTV & Suffolk Police. The system has been a proven success in reducing crime in the town centre and of procecuting criminals.
