Christmas in Lowestoft

Lowestoft is set to enjoy a very Merry Christmas this year with a wide range of events and entertainment for all the family.

The festivities are taking place from the 22nd November and include the turning on of the Christmas lights and late night shopping events. However, the Christmas fun would not be possible without the wonderful range of shops and services on offer in the town, from independent department stores to popular national chains, all creating a wonderful festive experience.

Lowestoft Vision has been preparing for the festivities, which begin on Saturday 22nd November, with the traditional Christmas lights switch on. The Beach Roadshow will be live from outside BHS and next to the town Christmas tree (sponsored by Specsavers) from 3pm with a range of entertainment live on stage including new boy band the Scheme. In addition, there will be a range of fun fair rides for all to enjoy before Santa, along with members of the Marina Theatre Pantomime Snow White, take to the stage to turn the lights on at 5pm.

There will be free parking in the town centre from 3pm, which has been kindly sponsored by Waveney District Council.

Also on the 22nd November the Lowestoft Craft Ladies will be in the Britten Centre for a special Christmas Craft Fair.

Late night shopping starts in the town on Thursday 27th November and will continue on Thursday 4th December, Thursday 11th December and Thursday 18th December. Free parking in the town is available from 2pm and a wide range of shops will be open until 8pm.

Late night shopping will feature a wide range of entertainment from choirs to brass bands performing traditional Christmas carols. On the 4th December come and meet the Christmas Penguins in the town or have your photo taken in the giant inflatable snow globe on the 11th or 18th December.
