Prime Minister David Cameron has arrived at Felixstowe Docks today to announce that the government will give £70m to a new Lowestoft crossing.

Commenting at the visit, David Cameron said: “Good news for Lowestoft. I can confirm that tomorrow we will be announcing that this £70m investment will be going ahead. I’ve seen for myself, with my own eyes during a visit before the election, just how important this is.”

On hearing the news Danny Steel Lowestoft Vision Chairman said "We are delighted to hear that the Government has committed the funds for Lowestoft’s Third River Crossing".

“Lowestoft Vision has been and will continue to be committed to making Lowestoft More Accessible. With Lowestoft & Waveney Chamber of Commerce we have highlighted the need for this investment to unlock the town’s potential and make Lowestoft the town of opportunity”

James Redder, Chair of Lowestoft Chamber responded: "Today's announcement from Government to invest in the new Lake Lothing crossing is good news for Lowestoft, its people, its businesses and the local economy.

"A great deal of campaigning has taken place and the consistent hard work by local people and local business along with lobbying from our national representatives means this fundamental project for the future of our town and its growth will now go ahead."
