Lowestoft Vision Launch New Brand for the Town
As the summer season got underway Lowestoft Vision, the town’s Business Improvement District and part of Lowestoft & Waveney Chamber of Commerce, proudly announced the launch of a new brand for Lowestoft.
Lowestoft Vision Directors, members of the management board, Peter Aldous MP, the Mayor Cllr Stephen Ardley, council officials and local business gathered on Lowestoft Seafront to launch Discover Lowestoft.
Lowestoft Vision has spent the last 6 months developing the new brand with local marketing and design company ‘Graphitas’. The project includes a new logo, new destination website and days out leaflet.
The new venture was undertaken after Lowestoft Vision had highlighted that there was no official website promoting the town for days out, shopping, eating out, events and the promotion of local businesses. Vision also wanted to create a logo which they hope will be adopted by the town.
Darren Newman, Lowestoft Vision BID Manager, said: “We are extremely excited about launching Discover Lowestoft. The brand and website have been needed for some time and this will be a great asset in promoting the town.
“The site has information on events, days out, shopping, local news and a range of special offers that are exclusive to those visiting the website.”
The new logo illustrates a Lowestoft sky line with the sun rising above the town, the new website enables local businesses to control their own listings and promote special offers in the town.
Justin Taylor, Managing Director of Graphitas, explained the details behind the design of the logo and website. “As locals, we often take for granted the great offerings of the town and surrounding areas, sometimes there is a tendency to focus on the negative aspects and challenges the town faces rather than the many great things the town has to be proud of”.
“The main focus of the Discover Lowestoft branding was quite simple, we wanted to create an identity for the town that locals would be proud of, while at the same time appealing to tourists and potential visitors”.
“One of the key objectives was to reinforce the vast array of things that Lowestoft has to offer; blue flag beaches, national parks, historic walks, Britain’s most easterly point, theme parks, theatres, restaurants, nightlife and of course a vibrant town centre. It was our intention that brand identity for the town should encompass as many of these unique offerings as possible”.
“The end result is a modern, colourful, vibrant brand that not only reflects the uniqueness and diversity of the town, but is hopefully something we can all be proud to be associated with”.
The scheme was supported by local businesses who have been keen to use the site to promote their products and services
Matt Goddard from Picture Studios said “I have been very excited for the launch of the new branding which everyone has been working so hard on. It brings the Town branding completely up to date, making it more appealing for the local community and raises the profile of Lowestoft. I'm confident this will attract more customers to Picture Studios from surrounding towns and villages."
In preparation for the launch of Discover Lowestoft, Lowestoft Vision has been concentrating on adding its members to the site. However, over the coming weeks the website will be open to other businesses within the town.
Lowestoft Vision has financed the project with additional funding from Waveney District Council. Cllr Michael Ladd, with responsibility for Tourism and Economic Development at Waveney District Council, said: “I am very pleased to see the launch of this website which will help to showcase all that is good in Lowestoft.
“Not only will this be a positive influence on visitors to the area and encourage more people to visit our hidden gems in and around Lowestoft, but it will also be a welcome boost to local businesses and organisations looking to engage support.”
As part of the launch, Lowestoft Vision has created a competition to win over £200 of vouchers. To enter simply visit the website and sign up to the newsletter.
In addition, Lowestoft Vision is working with a number of businesses who will be adding stickers to click and collect parcels promoting the website.
To promote the town to visitors, Lowestoft Vision has recently joined the Suffolk Coast Destination Management organisation which will link to the Discover Lowestoft website.
Darren added: “Whilst creating the brand we didn’t want to replicate the work of other organisations. The Suffolk Coast Destination Management has a remit to promote the area to visitors, we wanted to be part of that and feel that promoting Discover Lowestoft through the Suffolk Coast Destination Management will assist with attracting new and returning visitors to our town.
Lowestoft Vision and Graphitas will continue their partnership to grow the site and develop the Discover Lowestoft social media pages.
Danny Steel, Lowestoft Vision Chairman, said: “The development of Discover Lowestoft is another successful project that Lowestoft Vision has completed for the town. We all agree that we have a wonderful town and the website, along with the social media pages, will help to promote all the great things our town has to offer.”
