Turtle Trail competition winner annouced
Lowestoft Vision, the organisers of this year’s Turtle Trail, have hailed the event as another success.
The trail took place throughout the town centre from 11th July to 6th September with twenty turtles in shops and business located from the Tourist Information centre to the Martello Café in Sparrows Nest Gardens.
Those who took part in the trail were able to follow a map or download the new Turtle Trail app which provided rewards to download once a turtle was found.
To encourage the community and visitors to take part in the trail, each correctly completed entry was entered into a prize draw to win £500.
This week Lowestoft Vision, part of Lowestoft & Waveney Chamber of Commerce, along with campaign partner Global Radio announced the Turtle Trail winner as Alycia Curson from Lowestoft.
On receiving the cheque for £500 Alycia said: “We loved taking part in the Turtle Trail and to win the £500 is wonderful. It will go toward helping to make an extra special Christmas this year.”
Alycia was joined by her children: Elliot (7) and Faith (3) who revealed that their favourite turtle was Woody which was sponsored by Pleasurewood Hills and located at the Tourist Information Centre.
Darren Newman Lowestoft Vision BID Manager said: “It has been great to see the local community and visitors enjoy the trail which has introduced them to services in the town.
“The number of competition entrants has increase from 2014 when the trail was first introduced to the town. In addition there were over 700 downloads of the turtle trail app.
2Through the period of the turtle trail footfall to the town centre was up by over 6% year on year. A number of local businesses also reported an increase in trade as a result of the trail.
“It now time to get out thinking caps on and decide what we do for 2016.”
